We took part at the first ever Concorso di Modena

The year 2021 marks the first ever Cavallino Concorso di Modena, organized by Cavallino and Canossa events. We, at Schaltkulisse, were extremely honoured and excited to receive an invitation to this highly exclusive concours d’elegance. It is the 2nd of July 2021 and the veil on the first-ever Cavallino Concorso di Modena was lifted. Organised as a special edition created for the 30th anniversary of Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, this first edition could only be special. Unique Ferrari’s from all around the globe did the journey to Italy to pay homage to Enzo Ferrari’s hometown. Sitting among a lineup consisting of collection pieces such as a 250 GTO and a 250 California is our protagonist and pride. A one of 14, highly desirable Ferrari 400 Superamerica LWB Aerodinamico by Pininfarina, with, in our opinion, the superior looking covered headlights.

The car is not only stunning in the flesh, with its coachwork signed by Pininfarina, but also displays road presence like no other automobile. One can only imagine the expression on the face of the Italian motorists in the 60’s as they were greeted by the very rare sight of this flagship.

The judges at the concours so were impressed by our car’s significance and its interesting history. It’s not every day that you get to meet a movie star.

In the case of chassis 5139SA, it was one of the heroes of the Italian comedy film “il tigre”, otherwise known as “The tiger and the pussycat” in English and “L’homme à la Ferrari” in French (we do prefer this title).

 Directed by Dino Risi and starring Vittorio Gassman (which got him a David di Donatello award for best actor), the film was released in 1967, only three years after our Superamerica was built. The laid-back atmosphere at the venue shouldn’t fool you: judging the cars were experts and highly-knowledgeable Ferraristi. Every single element of the car was inspected, and the functionality was a highly important criterium. We’re glad to report that the Superamerica passed the tests with flying colors. Now, the comfortable highway cruiser is at the hands of Toni Auto in Italy. Toni Auto have been restoring Ferrari’s for over three generations and know the cars to the last bolt. Even though our Superamerica is fully restored, we wanted to make sure it matched our quality standards. More importantly, we love originality: the car will be brought back to its original silver color, which it had in the movie. Since it’s there, we might as well make the interior a bit more interesting.
